Our Plan for Hough.

Our strategic plan outlines a clear path forward for building a durable and vibrant community designed for Hough residents. Below are themes and objectives we are using to guide our work.

1
Theme One

Property Acquisition and Stewardship

Build the systems, partnerships, and discipline required to acquire, evaluate, and steward properties in service of long-term community benefit. This theme establishes how HCLT will make property decisions, manage what it owns, and formalize the institutional relationships that make acquisition possible.

  • Develop and implement a parcel evaluation tool to guide acquisition decisions.
  • Establish and use a due diligence review process for all property acquisitions.
  • Implement a basic monitoring and compliance tracking system.
2
Theme Two

Organizational and Financial Sustainability

Strengthen the governance backbone, board culture, and financial systems that allow HCLT to operate transparently and sustainably. This theme is about building the institutional credibility that funders, partners, and residents expect of a maturing land trust.

  • Recruit new board members aligned with relevant skills for our future needs.
  • Stand up robust organizational governance.
  • Begin increasing unrestricted revenue through basic fundraising activities.
3
Theme Three

Resident Prosperity and Community Stability

Deliver visible, near-term value to Hough residents and create the channels through which residents shape HCLT's direction.

  • Launch a resident advisory group.
  • Collect resident feedback through surveys and engagement efforts.
4
Theme Four

Community Engagement and Communication

Strengthen the governance backbone, board culture, and financial systems that allow HCLT to operate transparently and sustainably. This theme is about building the institutional credibility that funders, partners, and residents expect of a maturing land trust.

  • Host at least two community meetings.
  • Maintain a presence and update a public calendar of meetings and activities.
  • Conduct outreach meetings with community partners and leaders.
